Be Yourself Before God

“Being worthy to God is just being yourself“ - Wesleyne

Colossians 1:9 to 14:

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

In Colossians 1:9-14, the Apostle Paul expresses his ceaseless prayers for the Colossian believers, emphasizing the importance of spiritual wisdom and understanding. He prays that they may live lives worthy of the Lord, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God. This passage underscores the transformative power of the Gospel, as believers are strengthened with all power according to God's glorious might, enabling them to endure and be patient in all circumstances. Furthermore, Paul highlights the importance of gratitude, reminding the Colossians of the inheritance they have as God's holy people in the kingdom of light.

Today, you will learn several profound truths about the Christian life. Firstly, spiritual wisdom and understanding are not merely intellectual pursuits but are essential for living a life pleasing to the Lord. This wisdom leads to practical righteousness, evidenced by good works and spiritual growth. Secondly, the strength to endure challenges and exhibit patience doesn't come from our own abilities but from God's glorious might. Lastly, the passage reminds us of the transformative power of Christ's redemption. Believers have been rescued from the dominion of darkness and brought into the kingdom of light, a transition that warrants continuous gratitude. This redemption is not just a change in status but a call to a new way of life, rooted in Christ's love and the hope of our inheritance.
