What is the first thing that you seek in the times of adversity? What is the first thing that you seek in the times of joy? Are you seeking the comfort of another person? Are you seeking the comfort of cookies? Or maybe it's wine. Maybe the thing that brings you comfort is social media.
Wesleyne (:In Matthew 6 verses 33, it says, but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.
God wants us to seek his kingdom first, his kingdom. So what is a part of God's kingdom? We know that God is a part of his kingdom. We know that his living word is a part of his kingdom. We know that the Holy Spirit is a part of his kingdom. We know that Jesus is a part of his kingdom. So,
In those times of adversity, in those times of, I just feel like disappearing, disappear into your Bible, disappear by closing your eyes and praying, disappear by pulling out your journal and writing a prayer, lamenting, giving it to God.
Those are healthy ways of disappearing.
Wesleyne (:Many times people will tell you that when you disappear you're avoiding the situation and avoiding the situation is unhealthy. It is absolutely not healthy to avoid every situation in your life, but it is also important to take care of yourself first. I often say that you have to put your oxygen mask on first. And what does that look like? How do we put our oxygen mask on first?
What that means is we...
Wesleyne (:simply take a moment. We allow ourselves to be in the presence of God. We pray. We do what we need to do before we address a situation that is bringing us pain or anger or any of the negative emotions that we have. But when we're in a celebratory mood, when we're praising God and happy and excited and
All of those things.
Wesleyne (:That is what God commands us to do in times of joy. Praise him. Share his word with someone. Let people know that he's a good God.
Wesleyne (:Whether you are in a moment of celebration or in a moment of despair, seek his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. What does that mean? That means that his kingdom and his righteousness will be given to you when you seek it. We can't expect to be continuously blessed.
and continuously favored in the eyes of God, and we're not seeking his kingdom and his righteousness. So seek him first, even when you get a raise, even when you have a fantastic day, even when you see the favor coming upon you. Seek God, say thank you, Jesus. I needed this additional money in my bank account.
and my boss just told me I'm getting a raise and it's going to take effect immediately. Thank you Jesus for allowing my spouse and I to have a calm dinner and discuss things that were bothering me. Thank you Lord. Seek his kingdom first and his righteousness. And then you will.
feel the love of God. You will feel the warmth, the cloak. You will feel His presence in you, around you, and within you. Be blessed today.
