Getting Perfect Peace From God
“Sometimes we just need to stay in the presence of God in silence, close our eyes, and allow peace to wash over us” - Wesleyne
Isaiah 26:3:
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
At first glance, this verse speaks to the profound peace that comes from unwavering trust in the divine. Isaiah, in the midst of prophetic writings that oscillate between judgment and salvation, underscores a universal truth about the human experience and our relationship with God. To "stay" one’s mind on God is to set it firmly, to fix it resolutely, in trust and confidence. This unwavering trust acts as an anchor, ensuring that regardless of external circumstances, inner turmoil, or the storms of life, a deep, abiding peace is attainable. This isn’t just any peace, but "perfect peace," emphasizing completeness, wholeness, and a lack of want.
Today, you will learn about the reciprocity of trust and peace. The two are deeply intertwined. Isaiah doesn’t simply say that peace is a gift bestowed upon us unconditionally; instead, he emphasizes the condition of the human heart and mind. Those who actively trust in God, who focus their thoughts, emotions, and actions on the Divine, are the ones who experience this "perfect peace." It's not a fleeting or superficial peace, but one that transcends understanding, circumstances, and worldly chaos.
This teaches us that inner peace is not solely the product of external conditions but can be cultivated through deep, genuine trust in God. In a world of uncertainty and turmoil, this verse stands as a timeless invitation to anchor your mind and heart in something far greater than yourself, promising peace as the beautiful outcome.
