Episode 358

Surrendering Our Burdens to God's Will

"Father, if you are willing, take away this anxiety from me. I don't want to be anxious. I want to be calm." - Wesleyne

Word of the Day

Luke 22:42

"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."

Summary

In this episode, we delve into the profound message of surrender and trust in God's will, as exemplified by Jesus in Luke 22:42. Jesus, in his humanity, expressed his desire for relief but ultimately submitted to God's greater plan. This teaches us the importance of bringing our burdens—whether they be anxiety, depression, anger, or any other struggles—to God and asking for His will to be done. By surrendering our own desires and trusting in God's plan, we open ourselves to His love, joy, and peace. This act of faith allows us to navigate our challenges with divine support, knowing that God's will is always for our ultimate good.

Takeaways

  1. When feeling defeated, remember that God is not a God of defeat.
  2. Negative emotions are tools of the enemy and should not be embraced.
  3. Letting go of control and surrendering to God allows Him to work in our lives.
  4. Fully surrendering to God means taking our hands off the situation and trusting Him completely.
  5. Continually release worries and anxieties to God, trusting that He will take care of them.

Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me, yet not my will, but yours be done. Luke 22 versus 42.

This passage of text is written in red. So we know that anything written in red, those are Jesus's words. And he said, Father, then he humbled himself. He said, if you are willing, I am not commanding you to do this. I'm saying if you are willing, and we know our Father is always willing, all we have to do is ask and call on his name.

Take this cup from me Take this burden Take this anxiety take this depression Take this anger take this rage What is your cup? Is it an addiction to social media? Is it? unforgiveness or bitterness against someone in your life He says take it from me take this cup

and not my will, not what I want because I'm human. Jesus was all human. He was all man. He said, not my will because my will that might not be the right will because if I'm holding anger or bitterness in my heart, I will operate in the way that an angry person or a bitter person operates. It's not my will. It's not what I want, but it's your will.

So Lord, take this anger from me. Don't allow me to react in anger, but allow me to react in love. Let's reframe this verse and make it specific for you. Father, if you're willing, take this bitterness from me. I don't wanna be bitter. I want to extend grace. Father, take.

Wesleyne (:

this broken heart from me.

I don't want to be brokenhearted. I want to give and receive love.

Father, if you are willing...

Take away this anxiety from me. I don't wanna be anxious. I wanna be calm. Father, if you are willing, take this depression from me. I don't wanna be sad. I don't wanna be in despair, but I wanna be full of joy. What is your cup today? What is your cup?

Ask God to take it away from you. Ask his will to abound. Ask his love, his joy, his patience, his grace. Ask it to abound. All we have to do is call on his name and say, Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me. Not my will, but yours be done.
