Why and How to Forgive Others

“Forgiveness is for you. Forgiveness is for God. Forgiveness is not for the other person” - Wesleyne

Luke 17: 3 to 4:

So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying 'I repent,' you must forgive them.”

Forgiveness is a very broad topic covered in the Bible. If you read the Bible from cover to cover, you will come to the conclusion that it is all about forgiveness. But there are layers to the conversation on forgiveness. There is the forgiveness that we receive from God because of our sins. And directly tied to the forgiveness of our sin is our willingness to forgive when our relationships with each other are harmed in some way. Forgiveness is, therefore, very essential if you are going to grow as a child of God.

Today, you will learn that even though forgiveness is hard, it is worth it. God is calling upon you to forgive knowing full and well what that means and how challenging it can be. He who has forgiven the unforgivable in you, calls you to forgive because He knows the freedom, redemption, and restoration that will eclipse your pain and loss when you partner with Him. May God bless you as you embrace that and incorporate it into your life.
